For years, one of the most breathtaking modern holiday light displays has been a short drive south of Houston at Magical Winter Lights in La Marque. The larger-than-life lantern festival spans 20 acres and presents a multicultural take on the traditional holiday light show with displays made using Chinese lantern-making techniques that stretch up to 60 feet into the air.  In short, there’s nothing else like it in the Houston area.

For the 2021 holiday season, Magical Winter Lights in Houston is returning. Start your enchanting trip by touring more than 100 separate lantern setups organized into eight distinct themed regions. The beautiful castle, a Christmas village, Houston skylines, a Dino fun zone, festival delicacies, carnival rides and games, Santa and Ice Sisters meet-and-greets, local cultural acts on certain evenings, and more can all be found there.

Aside from the lantern displays, guests can also explore food and shopping areas at the Holiday Market Square and enjoy photo opportunities with the Ice Sisters and Santa Claus. There are also nightly acrobatic performances, arts and crafts made live at the festival by Chinese artisans, amusement rides and games, and an expanded dinosaur exhibit.

Admission is usually very affordable for families, and they usually even offer discounts for military and first responders.

All in all, Houston Magical Winter Lights is usually among the best places to see Christmas lights in Houston.

2021 Hours Of Operation

The Houston Lights Festival has been on display since November 19th, 2021, and will be until January 2nd, 2022.

The timings vary depending on the day for which you purchase your tickets.

  • Adult (13+ years of age) tickets cost $23.50.
  • Senior (65+ years of age) tickets cost $15.50.
  • Child (3-12 years of age) tickets cost $15.50.
  • Infants (under 2 years of age) tickets are free.
  • Family Pack of 4 (13+ years of age) tickets cost $80.50.

Unlimited Carnival Ride Wristbands costs $23.50.

*Admission tickets are required. Carnival ride wristbands do not grant entry to the festival.
*Online ticket prices do not include sales tax or ticket fees.


The parking costs $10 on-site and VIP Parking costs $20 on-site at Gate 2.
