The closure will last for 12 hours each day this weekend.
Texas Department of Transportation
A familiar foe of a highway closure will make you dread your weekend drive through Houston.
Crews plan to close the U.S. 59 northbound lanes at West Loop 610 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday as workers continue to construct a new overpass. The southbound lanes are then planned to be closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.
Construction workers are currently working on the ramp from U.S. 59 northbound to West Loop 610 northbound. The ramp will go over both the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 59, which is why the closure is necessary.
Work has continued on the interchange for years. It’s part of a $259 million project to expand the interchange, which will add capacity for growing traffic in the area.
