Apparent human skeletal remains were found outside of a home Wednesday in northeast Houston, according to Houston police.

The discovery by a homeowner happened around noon on the 9900 block of Valley Lake Drive, just off Tidwell Road, where police said what appeared to be a human skull was found along the roadway. The skull was taken by the Harris County medical examiner.

Homicide investigators remained at the scene Wednesday evening with dogs scouring the area for any additional remains.

Yesterday, in an unrelated incident, new residents to a Montrose-area home found what are believed to be human remains.

No other information is available at this time.

This scene is breaking and updates will be added.
